ADHD coaching can improve
ADHD symptoms, executive functioning related behaviors, self-esteem, well-being and quality of life.
Coaching can help you:
✽ Build Better Habits
✽ Plan, Prioritize, and Organize
✽ Set Goals and Work to Achieve Them
✽ Fight Procrastination & Increase Motivation
Some think people who have ADHD are lazy, have a hard time sitting still, and just don't want to pay attention. They just need more
discipline and the problem will go away, but that is so far from the truth. In fact, most experts agree it isn't a lack of attention that
is the problem, it is directing that attention. People with ADHD have no problem focusing when they find something
they are passionate about. In fact, they have a tendency to hyperfocus, and can often lose track of time. It can be extremely difficult
for them to pull their attention away from what they are focused on, causing a whole different set problems. Time management is problematic, because
on one side time flies when they are having fun, but when a task is boring it literally feels like forever. Getting started on a boring task
that is going to take forever takes an incredible amount of self discipline, especially when your brain has something else it deems more important.
I would argue that even neurotypical people don't have that kind of discipline. Their brains just perceive time differently and they have more
control over where they place their attention. It all comes down to executive functioning.
"Anyone who exhibits the classic symptoms of ADHD will have difficulty with all or most of the seven core
executive functions." says, Russell Barkley, Ph.D.
So what is executive functioning?
Executive functioning is the management system of our brain. It is how we get things done and includes our ability think ahead, figure out how
long something is likely to take, set goals, plan, prioritize, organize and motivate ourselves to get started on a task and see it through to
completion. It involves self awareness, regulating our emotions, and sustaining focus even when distractions are vying for our attention.
This can be hard for a lot of people, but it's especially hard for those with ADHD because of the way our brains are wired. Understanding
how our brains work and why we do the things we do is the first step in making real, positive change, but knowledge
alone will not force your brain into action. More often than not, you know what you need to do, you just can't get yourself to do it.
Coaching can help you...
✽ Understand how your brain works so you are better able to work with it.
✽ Identify your challenges and problem-solve to find solutions that will work for you.
✽ Set goals and implement new habits and strategies to help you reach them.
✽ Identify and use your strengths to help you overcome obstacles.
✽ Find motivation even when your brain would rather procrastinate.
✽ Use external tools like timers, lists & other physical cues to jumpstart your
brain.
✽ Gain confidence and self-esteem so you can take charge of your life.
✽ Accept yourself for who you are and where you are in your journey.
When you work with a coach you have someone in your corner that gets you. As a coach with ADHD, I understand your struggles and see how hard you try.
So often people with ADHD tend to focus on their failures and don't notice all the good things they do in life,
this can really bring you down, lowering your self-esteem and self-confidence, making it that much harder to stay motivated.
I will help you see your wins, take a moment to celebrate them, and give you the encouragement you need to keep moving forward. You will see progress, and progress
increases motivation.

Hi, I'm Jessica...
I’ve lived most of my life not realizing I have ADHD. I always wondered why everything seemed so hard, why I could be so motivated
one day and completely uninterested the next, why I struggled planning for the future and when I would come up with a great plan,
I could rarely follow through. It wasn't until my kids were diagnosed with ADHD and I started learning about it that everything
made sense. It is amazing to me that I was able to accomplish so much, yet I never felt like I was living up to my potential,
now I know why.
The more I have learned, the more I have realized that knowledge is power. Now that I understand how our brains work, I function so
much better and I feel a lot
better about myself, too. Is my life perfect? No. Do I still sometimes struggle with my ADHD brain?
Of course, but not nearly as often and I no longer beat myself up about it. I have the tools
to overcome life’s challenges and I
know how to use them. I only wish I had learned this stuff when I was still in school. It is now my life’s mission to help others.
I have years of experience as a teacher and more recently a coach. I taught in the Aviation Department at Gallatin College and at Embry Riddle
Aeronautical University. I am also the Color Guard coach at Belgrade High School, so I understand what it takes to teach and motivate both
teenagers and adults. I am a certified life coach with extensive training in ADHD, executive functioning, mindfulness, and positive psychology.
I truly believe that it takes all of these things to live our best lives. Are you ready to make a change? Let me help you flourish.
